Abundant is the information and photos presented by the media, TV programs and websites, about the “visible” or physical surgeries performed by Medium Joao. It saddens me to witness how many in need of help and healing are scared and driven away by such. I would like to dispel the fear and misunderstanding surrounding this. Yes, it is a fact that while John of God is in trance state, the Spirits/Divine Doctors who work through him sometimes perform actual physical surgeries, free from infection and pain. Numerous studies made by medical authorities agree that the healings are real, although no comfortable explanation can be found.

PHYSICAL OR VISIBLE SURGERIES ACCOUNT FOR LESS THAN ONE-PER-CENT OF JOHN OF GOD’S WORK. HE WOULD COMPLETELY DISCONTINUE THEM IF THEY DID NOT SERVE TWO IMPORTANT PURPOSES: DEMONSTRATING WHAT IS POSSIBLE TO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION and STRENGTHENING PEOPLE’S FAITH.

Nobody will touch you unless you express your desire to have physical surgery: You do not qualify if you are not within 18 to 52 years of age, if you suffer from diabetes, heart problems, epilepsy, low or high pressure, or if you are using controlled medicines. Also, if you ever had chemotherapy or radiation treatment, and if you are in a wheelchair. If you want to receive physical surgery, you must ask for it, and may be refused. Those not qualified for visible surgery will be given “Invisible Surgery.”

Visible and invisible surgery produce exactly the same quality of healing. One does not produce better or different results than the other.

To receive “Invisible Spiritual treatment or Surgery”, we are simply required to sit down with uncrossed legs and arms and eyes closed. The work is done without touching the person. Beings of Light enter the body and perform the work. Many patients report having dreams and visions of these beings. Anywhere from (6) to (9) procedures are performed in one single sitting. Post Surgery Rules.

Both, Physical and Invisible surgery are major operations. If you are not careful you may interrupt the healing process or worsen the conditions you have been treated for. The following rules apply over the 8 days after you receive Visible or Invisible surgery.

• Rest, relax, move gently -- Avoid the direct sun.
• Do not lift heavy objects or over-exert yourself.
• Do not go to the Sacred Waterfall.
• No sex or raising of sexual energies for 40 days after your first surgery. For subsequent operations, the restriction is for 8 days.
• Stay in your room, lying down, after your surgery. Rest for a minimum of twenty four hours. Eat in your room (have a friend or a group member bring your food to you if possible)
• If you asked for help with your eyesight when you were scheduled for surgery, do not read for 8 days following the surgery.
• Avoid the Main Assembly Hall and Current Rooms. Avoid crowds. You may go into the Casa gardens or the Dining Area for the Blessed Soup. But the best is to stay in your room, lying down. Eat in your room. Keep still and to yourself, avoiding long conversations and holding the energy within.
• The healing process can continue for as much as three to four months or longer.
• If herbs are prescribed at the time of your surgery, discontinue any previous prescription. Finish the herbs you will be prescribed at the time of your surgery. Then, you will take the prescription you were given originally.
• Do not travel during the 24 hours following your operation. If you have to travel, make sure that you do not lift your own luggage. Ask for help at the Airport. Avoid strenuous activity for 8 days. Be very careful for forty days.

Eight-day review after surgery.

On the seventh night after your surgery you prepare for your review with Medium Joao. Before going to bed, place a glass of water at your bedside, dress in white. Give thanks to God and ask the Healing Spirits to come and remove your stitches. In the morning give thanks and drink the glass of water. Some have reported hearing noises during the seventh night. If you happen to be awake when the Spirits come to remove your stitches, please keep your eyes closed!. Otherwise they cannot work on you. On the eight day you will go before the Spirit Entity for your review. You may be told that all is complete and you are healed.

Surrogate Surgery.

When someone is unable to travel you may, with both his permission and that of the Healing Spirits, stand in for him or her. You are the conduit or telephone line between the Healing Spirits and the patient. You will sit in the surgery room as if it were your own surgery. Focus on the person you are representing. She will be required to follow all the post-surgery rules.
